barneyebsworth.com launches. This website is dedicated to preserving and sharing the story of Barney A. Ebsworth (1934–2018) — entrepreneur, art collector, and one of the most fascinating Americans of the twentieth century.
New content is being added regularly as research continues. We are grateful to the family members, friends, and institutions who are helping us tell this story.
Barney grew up on $12,000 a year in St. Louis, taught himself art at the Louvre, built three cruise lines, chartered the Concorde around the world 29 times, and assembled an art collection that sold for $323 million at Christie’s. He lived next door to Bill Gates and never owned a cell phone.
His story is one of the great untold American stories. We are telling it.
If you knew Barney, have photographs, or have stories to share, we would love to hear from you.
